Dripping Springs Hill Country Xeriscape
This Dripping Springs front yard was redesigned from the ground up as a fully lawn-free native landscape that works with the Hill Country climate rather than against it. Three distinct ground cover zones, warm tan crushed granite, river rock, and dark mulch beds, flow across the property in sweeping organic curves separated by clean white concrete edging, a layout that reads as beautifully from above as it does at street level. A large mature live oak anchors the center of the composition and was preserved as the focal point of the entire design, with every zone curving naturally around its canopy. Mexican feather grass planted in generous drifts moves with the wind and changes character through the seasons, while red hesperaloe in bloom, agave, yucca, and agarita provide year-round texture and color with minimal water. Blue Arizona cypress trees stand as specimen accents in the mulch beds, and large warm sandstone boulders are placed throughout as natural anchors that echo the surrounding Hill Country landscape. The result is a front yard that requires almost no supplemental water, no lawn maintenance, and still manages to be one of the most visually compelling properties in the area.
