Lakeway Trellis and Patio

This Lakeway backyard was built around a large cream limestone flagstone patio that sets the tone for everything around it. The generously sized irregular stones are sand-set with tight joints, creating a surface that feels substantial and well-crafted underfoot. A dark stained wood pergola spans the full length of the patio, with heavy timber posts and decorative brackets providing shade and structure over the main entertaining area. String lights run beneath the covered section, and a cedar horizontal privacy screen is built into the pergola to shield the grill area without closing off the space. Two built-in limestone raised planting beds flank the grill station, tying the structure back to the stone palette throughout the yard. A limestone retaining wall runs the full back length of the property, topped with a dense row of columnar trees that provide a living privacy screen between the patio and the neighboring properties. The standout detail of this project is a curved limestone raised bed tucked into the corner of the home, topped with a small wood pergola framing a decorative arched iron gate built into the stone wall, a custom focal point that adds real character to what could have been an overlooked corner.
